When shooting a group photo when you want to use somewhat shallow depth of field, make sure to focus on the person closest to the camera. If you can`t afford studio lights, even out harsh contrasts when shooting with natural light by positioning a large sheet of paper or card to reflect the incoming light onto the unlit side of your subject. If you`re shooting outdoors, be careful not to take photos of a person when the sun is at their back. The heart of a photograph is it’s composition—the position of different elements in a frame.
