When you are driving your car, or riding your two-wheeler, the following documents always need to be on you:

1. A valid driving licence in original – photocopies, colour or otherwise not allowed!

2. Your vehicle`s RC (Registration certificate/card). A photocopy, duly attested by a Class I gazetted officer may be carried, but if the original needs to be shown, then under the Motor vehicle Act you can do so in 15 days. However, a plain photocopy (without attestation) is not allowed.

3. Your vehicle`s valid insurance. A photocopy, duly attested by a Class I gazetted officer may be carried, but if the original needs to be shown, then under the Motor vehicle Act you can do so in 15 days. However, a plain photocopy (without attestation) is not allowed.

4. Original valid “Pollution Under Check” (PUC) certificate. No photocopies, attested or otherwise is allowed. If your vehicle is brand new, then get a PUC 3 months after buying the vehicle.
