America’s Water Pipes: The Harbinger of Waste

From Egypt to Ancient Greece to the modern United States, pipes have always played a part in history. In fact, modern America has over 2.2 million miles of water pipe installed. However, the heavy usage of pipes requires much more frequent maintenance.

On average, the United States sees a water main break every 2 minutes and 6 billion gallons of water wasted daily. This can largely be attributed to the damage to the current water piping infrastructure. The U.S. only replaces 0.5% of the piping system annually, meaning it would take up to 200 years to completely replace the water piping system. This, combined with rampant corrosion issues, poses a serious problem for the U.S.

Fortunately, the Hobas Fiberglass Reinforced Polymer Mortar (FRPM) mitigates, or outright eliminates, many of these issues. It does not have the same corrosion issues as its predecessors and the 150+ year longevity ensures it can last until its replaced. In order to push America into the modern age of piping, installing FRPM pipes is the way to go.
