The bully breed dates back to the 1800’s, most prominently with the English Bulldog from the British Isles in 1886. However, since then, the bully breed has exploded both in popularity and variety, as ‘bully dogs’ now encompass over 50 different types of terrier-type dogs.
In fact, the bully breed has seen a lot of growth in recent years. The Dogue de Bordeaux was registered in 2008, the Cane Corso in 2010, and the Dogo Argentino as recently as 2020. These new breeds have also begun to pique American interest. The Cane Corso breed is the most searched dog breed in California, for example.
