When it comes to protecting ebooks from piracy and theft, ebook DRM is probably one of the things you will first think of. Many publishing platforms (Amazon Kindle Ebooks, Google Play Books, and Kobo) rely on the DRM supported by Adobe Digital Editions but that has significant flaws – the main one being that the ebook protection can be easily removed. There are many different ebook formats available (epub, mobi, HTML5, PDF) but type any of these into Google and all the first page results are how to remove the DRM. Yet Ebook DRM, if implemented correctly, can be made secure and still simple to use.
