Web Accessibility History Timeline

Web is ensuring your web content is perceivable, operable, understandable and robust by being compatible with assistive technologies such that all users, including those with disabilities can access it.

This is why World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), an international community of member organizations that articulates web standards and guidelines through its initiative established the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) which is now the international standard for web accessibility and has been referenced by most countries in their digital accessibility laws. Some of those countries include the European Union member states, Canada, Israel, Germany, Australia, and the USA.
